to encourage students to educate others about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). CRPS formally known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) is a chronic, degenerative, neurological pain disorder.
To the outside world, a person with CRPS looks "healthy." People with CRPS push through their pain to survive and succeed in their daily lives. It is difficult for someone battling with CRPS to hear from others who are not aware of the disease, that they look good, so they must not be sick. CRPS is an invisible disease, as are so many others; fibromyalgia, depression, Sjogren's, Interstitial Cystitis, Eating Disorders, etc.
Spreading awareness, supporting education and research about Complex
Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), is the key to one day finding a cure for this dreadful pain disorder. As part of our advocacy efforts, we are offering one Fight the Flame® CRPS Awareness Scholarship of $1,000 to a high school senior.
